I love The Shins...I love The Shins!!

It's been forever since I last saw them (is it possible that it's actually been 3 years?!?!), but tonight I went to their show at The Greek Theatre in Berkeley. Sigh. So very very worth it. I love knowing every song and being equally excited to hear each one.

They were the group that ushered me into the wonderful world of indie pop! Trite as it sounds, they changed my life (Zach Braff was right). They were also the soundtrack to my life for several years.

YAAAAAAY!! There's a behind the scenes look at the daemons in The Golden Compass movie coming out December 7th. I can't wait to see it...Pullman's His Dark Materials Trilogy is so freakin' rad!

I had a grand night out in SF yesterday. iron_sky, arcanepackrat, kime7673, radium, and laureltree joined me in checking out my old roommate's photos in a showing at Bombshell Betty's. I saw the Buffy Musical sing-a-long in San Francisco on Friday (totally awesome and an amazing time!!) and it got me thinking once again about how wonderful Joss Whedon is. A friend recently sent me this video of a great Joss speech made for Equality Now.

Seeing the Buffy musical also reminded me that I'm completely in love with the Scrubs musical episode that aired last season. The music was written by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx, the creators and songwriters of Avenue Q, and Stephanie D'Abruzzo, who was the original Kate Monster, plays a patient who's key in the episode. I promised some friends I'd send them links to my favorite numbers which are "Everything Comes Down to Poo" and "Guy Love."

Also, there are a couple neat-looking shows coming to town in 2008. Here's a link to the Best of Broadway SF site. I think I want to check out The Wiz and A Midsummer Night's Dream (whenever it is that they end up coming to town). Let me know if you're interested in going...
